Workations for Companies

For Companies

Enhance employee independence and autonomy, ultimately fostering creativity, by offering them unique experiences. These include collaborating with local companies to tackle local community challenges that Wakayama is confronting ahead of the rest of Japan, such as the declining birthrate, aging population, depopulation, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while connecting with the expansive blue waters and forested mountains that have contributed to the creation of World Heritage sites.

Workations by Purpose

Tackling Local Community Challenges

Achieving growth by working together to tackle local community challenges amid different environments and values

Wakayama has one of the fastest declining and aging populations among all of Japan’s local governments, making it a prefecture where the various issues associated with these challenges are becoming apparent earlier. Additionally, Wakayama is a region with a smaller population and economy, making it easier to understand the overall structure of the prefecture. By bringing together individuals with diverse values to address various challenges in the region, they will gain a genuine understanding of regional revitalization. These unique experiences can foster innovation and development among your employees.

New insights and growth generated by a workation in Wakayama

Ricoh has been taking part in workation tours for managers in Wakayama since 2022. Participants have expressed positive feedback about their experiences: "New encounters and experiences away from daily life led to personal growth" and "We created new values by learning about nature, industry, and local community challenges in Wakayama.” I agree with them and feel that our lives have been enriched by workations in Wakayama. I am hoping to further spread the benefits of workations as a work option within the company.

How to Set Up a Workation

  1. Consult a coordinator

In Wakayama, coordinators serve as the main contact for creating your workation programs and arranging reservations at a range of destinations. Once the purpose of the workation has been decided, you create the actual program in discussion with your coordinator. For a productive workation, it is important to clearly and comprehensively communicate your company's implementation objectives, needs, and so on to your coordinator.
